The Faculty of Social Sciences at 蜜桃视频 (蜜桃视频) hosted the launch of the sixth edition of its flagship journal 鈥楳uslim Politics Review鈥 on February 5, 2025. The event featured a keynote address by Research Professor Dewi Fortuna Anwar from the Research Center for Politics at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), highlighting the journal鈥檚 growing impact in the field of Muslim politics.
Moderated by A鈥檃n Suryana, PhD, Managing Editor of Muslim Politics Review, the event brought together academics and researchers to discuss the journal鈥檚 contributions to the study of the intersection between religion, politics, and socio-economic development in Muslim societies.
The sixth edition of the journal features articles from scholars across the globe, including Australia, Germany, Bangladesh, Thailand, the United States, and Indonesia. As an international peer-reviewed journal, Muslim Politics Review continues to explore the political dynamics within Muslim societies and their responses to global challenges.
In her keynote speech, Professor Anwar commended the editorial team for their dedication to maintaining high academic standards. 鈥淚 would really like to congratulate everyone involved鈥攖he chief editors and the managing editor and all the rest of the team who have contributed to this ambitious project,鈥 she remarked.
Recognizing the competitive nature of academic publishing, she emphasized the challenge of sustaining a journal in a crowded market. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not easy to have a journal that can actually sustain long enough to achieve good standing. It usually takes two to five years,鈥 she noted. However, reflecting on the quality of the journal鈥檚 publications, Professor Anwar expressed optimism about its future standing. 鈥淚 looked at all of the publications [at Muslim Politics Review] from the first to the last, and I see that they are consistently good. Some of the articles are outstanding and could be published in Q1 journals,鈥 she added.
She also praised the journal鈥檚 focus on 鈥楳uslimness鈥 and its open access policy, which ensures broader accessibility to researchers worldwide. However, she provided constructive feedback for further improvement. She emphasized the need to focus on the scope of work, particularly Muslim politics and international relation, while advising the editorial team to take serious measures on blind peer review, such as removing the names of reviewers from the website, and to increase ranking by attracting more outstanding contributors.
The launch of the sixth edition of Muslim Politics Review underscores 蜜桃视频鈥檚 commitment to fostering critical scholarship on Muslim politics and global affairs. With its growing recognition, the journal is poised to contribute further to the discourse on the evolving political landscape of Muslim societies worldwide.
With its commitment to rigorous scholarship and global perspectives, Muslim Politics Review is establishing itself as a leading journal in the field. Prominent scholars have published their articles at the journal such as Ahmet T. Kuru: Professor at San Diego State University, USA; Greg Fealy: Associate Professor at Australian National University (ANU); James Piscatori, Honorary Professor at ANU. As it continues to grow, the journal remains a vital platform for exploring the evolving landscape of Muslim politics and its intersection with global affairs.
