Ƶ Board of Trustees Announces Three Rector Candidates 2024-2029

Ƶ, DEPOK - On May 24, 2024, members of the Ƶ Board of Trustees held a meeting at the Ƶ Campus in Depok, West Java, chaired by Mr. H.M. Jusuf Kalla. The agenda of the meeting was to present the results of the review and assessment of applications for the position of Rector at Ƶ by the Selection Committee which has conducted an open recruitment process from May 10 to May 22, 2024.

During the registration period, five candidates applied for the position, including one foreign national. As the registration period ended, the Selection Committee organized a closed meeting and successfully selected three candidates to be submitted to the Ƶ Board of Trustees for validation. At the meeting on May 24, 2024, the Ƶ Board of Trustees finalized the result and confirmed the three Ƶ Rector candidates for the service period 2024-2029 as follows:

Prof. Jamhari, M.A., Ph.D. 

Prof. Dr. Jamhari is a Professor of Anthropology and the incumbent Rector of Ƶ. Previously, he served as Vice Rector for Research, Cooperation, and Community Engagement at Ƶ. Before joining Ƶ, he was the Director of the Graduate School (SPs) (2019-2021), Vice-Rector for Cooperation (2006-2020), and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs (2010-2015) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. From 2001 to 2006, he served as the Director of the Center for the Study of Islam and Society (PPIM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Prof. Dr. Jamhari earned his Doctoral Degree in Anthropology from ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, Australian National University in 2000. 

Prof. Dr. M. Arskal Salim, M.Ag 

Prof. Dr. M. Arskal Salim is a Professor of Islamic Political Law. He currently serves as the Secretary of the Research, Development, Education, and Training Body at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Previously, he was the Acting Rector of the State Islamic University (UIN) Sultan Thaha, Jambi (2019), and the Director of Higher Education at the Directorate General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (2017-2020). He also served as the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (2016-2018). Prof. Dr. M. Arskal Salim earned his Doctoral Degree in Asian Law from Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne, in 2006. 

Prof. Muhammad Zuhdi, M.Ed., Ph.D. 

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zuhdi is a Professor of Education and a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Education, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He previously served as the Head of the Main Library (2006-2010), Director of the Language Center (2011-2015), and Head of Quality Assurance (2020-2023) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Additionally, he was the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Education, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (2015-2020) and is a non-permanent lecturer at Ƶ (2023-present). Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zuhdi earned his Doctoral Degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Education) from McGill University, Canada, in 2006.
