ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ.AC.ID, DEPOK - Associate Professor from Sonoma State University and Research Fellow at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ's Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Puspa D. Amri gave a presentation at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ, about "Do Voters in Developing and Transitional Democracies Care about Income Inequality? The Role of Media Freedom" at the Econ Insight event on November 1, 2022.

Puspa indicated that the paper she had previously written on with the same title is currently the focus of a research study, a co-authoring work with Dr. Florence Bouvier.

She stated that the problem of income inequality was a concern for her. In her view, income inequality has been increasing as a political issue, and it should affect how voters judge their income and government performance.

"But existing research doesn't really have that much focus on whether income inequality is part of the voting function, especially in developing democracies and transitional democracies," Puspa said.

In hosting the event, she felt well appreciated by the comments and various questions from students of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ. "I lectured for about 40 to 45 minutes to a full classroom, and I really appreciate the various different comments and questions from the students," she stated.

She also enjoyed how students also talked about diverse perspectives of their own countries. "So thank you, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ, for inviting me. I had a very enjoyable, informative, and productive afternoon," she stated. (ANJ)
