Fuad Jabali, Ph.D. is a lecturer in the Faculty of Islamic Studies ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ and a senior lecturer at the Department of Islamic History and
Culture of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, and the
former executive director of Research Institute for Community
Outreach (PPIM) at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University
of Jakarta. He got his MA in Islamic Societies and Cultures from
School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of
London, and his PhD in Islamic Studies from Institute of Islamic
Studies, McGill University. Since 2001, he is one of the editors
of the International Journal, Studia Islamika, which is published
by PPIM. His research interest includes the Life of the Prophet,
the Prophetic Traditions, Islamic History and Civilization,
Methodology in Islamic Studies, Islamic Theology, and Islam and
Modern Issues (gender, radicalism, democracy, civil society). He
wrote a book entitled The Companions of the Prophet: A Study of
Geographical Distribution and Political Alignment (E.J. Brill, 2003).
