In commemoration of Indonesian Tree Planting Day (HMPI), Ƶ (Ƶ), together with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), the Depok City Government, and the Depok City Environment and Sanitation Service, held tree planting event on the Ƶ campus, on November 28, 2022.

In his speech, the Rector of Ƶ agreed with the prayer previously expressed by the Ƶ staff that a good person is like a tree; its roots sink into the ground, do not falter, and its branches reach up high, which then brings results and benefits to the environment. "That's a personal picture, a leader, and that's what this campus expects," he said.

He continued expressing his wish that Ƶ would have strong roots that penetrate to the community, because the Ƶ campus belongs to the community. Apart from that, he also hopes that Ƶ can produce good fruit so that the benefits can be felt together. "So this campus is indeed lived by us in our community, we want to package it, introduce Indonesian culture to the world, and contribute to the world."

Meanwhile, Ety Suryahati revealed that the purpose of holding planting and reforestation activities in Depok City, especially in the Ƶ green open space area, was to encourage people to be more active in planting trees, reduce the impact of environmental damage, and instill the values of community cooperation.

Until the end of 2022, tree planting program on the Ƶ campus is targeted to reach 5,600 trees of various varieties on a total of 13.3 hectares of land. This was done as an effort to make Ƶ a green campus.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry's expert staff, Helmi Basalamah, revealed that 1,000 certified fruit trees had been prepared for this tree planting event. "It is hoped that this will raise what the Rector hopes for, so that it is not only used by us but also can be used by other animals," he said.

As additional information, Ƶ was also only given permission to build a campus on as much as 30 percent of the total land area, this is so that the remaining land can become a green area that can be used as a park area, so that the benefits can be felt by the community. "We have to plant it so that other people can enjoy this green campus and its park. They can also develop their sense of belonging to this campus" said the Rector of Ƶ. (ANJ)
